Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
