Mohamed Salah Issues Apology to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Salah expressed regret to the team after the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match following making accusations and suggesting his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The head coach has refused to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
Jones also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
