McKenna's Stance on Celtic

McKenna referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in recent years and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those conversations," the English capital native ex- Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I possess a special job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about these. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

The coach agreed to a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Wales forward is minded to complete the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, due to a successful Nations League campaign, even if they fail to finish as their group second place.

Given his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
