Soccer Expert Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I will not force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
My son advised me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.
Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's home record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this season. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
