This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
